I really love healthy foods and I try to stay away from gluten and flour when I can. Processed snacks don't appeal to me - I'm into fresh foods!
On that note: today was something special.
As I was getting ready to write today's Herb & Spice blog post, I grabbed a beautiful organic apple from the fruit section. On my wait out of the store, I noticed some pretzels for sale near the cash.
I noticed how pretty they were and I saw someone paying for a pretzel at the cash. I remembered someone telling me that lots of people looove the Le Twist pretzels (they always sell out by the end of the day). So I had found the subject of the day, and I decided to take some time to find out a little more about this local bakery.
Of course, I wanted to show you a picyture of one of their beaufiful pretzels....
Here it is!
Wow, what a beauty!
It's actually quite a large knot of dough; the inside looks and feels soft and chewy and there are even large crystals sprinkled on top of it!
(Although....it seems as though some of the salt is missing in this picture...but maybe it's because I've kind of tasted one or two on my way back to my desk...)
Nevertheless, it's an enticing looking snack that I can't wait to write about. You can tell just by looking at these pretzels that they have been handmade with lots of love.
OH! There's that pretzel again! I don't know what could have happened to it...it looks as though it's had a bite taken out of it!
Can I just say that My goodness! This is delicious?!
I know that I've already mentioned this, but I'm really not usually a pretzel type of person, however that delicious saltiness with the sweet dough, mmmm....
....It's just so tasty!
I didn't realize that pretzels could be so delicious!
Excuse me while I take another little bite...
Ooops....sorry, I hate to type with my mouthful! I'm looking at their facebook page and they say that they make an authentic German pretzel....makes you want to go back to your German classics and read Goethe all over again doesn't it? (At this point you might start beliving that I'm very well read....hahaha!)
OMG - such a chewy and tasty treat! No wonder they sell like hotcakes. Apparently people soak these gens in mustard sauce...Who needs that! On it's own, this pretzel is just divine!
Ok, might as well get it over with. I guess I'll compensate later with a couple of green drinks from the juice bar - no harm done!
These pretzels are deliverd fresh every weekday morning to the Herb's Food Shop (no wonder they are so fresh!) I'm sure they are perfect for breakfast or lunch on the go...I bet you it fabulous when dipped in a hot coffee!
Oh well, there it goes!
So, the next time you walk into the Herb & Spice Food Shop, remember these babies! These pretzels are not only incredibly delicious, but are baked fresh everyday in a nice, "twisted" place in Ottawa.
